Founded in 1968 by Charles (Charlie) Rourke, Charles Rourke & Sons Funeral Directors are now a third-generation, independent, family run business, providing a personal and dignified service.
Charlie, alongside sons Martin and Barry have served all members of the community throughout the years, caring for families as they go through the difficult time of losing a loved one. At the turn of the millennium, Charles Rourke & Sons renovated and opened what is now our Funeral Home in our premises on Church Street.
Claire Rourke manages the administrative side of the business and oversees all pre-paid and pre-arranged funerals.
Moving into our third generation, the company has expanded to include Charlie’s grandchildren, Gordon, Aimée and Charlie. Gordon has worked alongside his dad and uncle for many years as a part-time funeral director and assisting in Rourke Memorials. In 2021 he joined Charles Rourke & Sons full time. The youngest member of the team, Charlie had been working in Rourke Memorials for several years, before taking up a full time role as a funeral director in 2024. Aimée, the most recent addition joined the team in September 2025, working full time in an administrative role and as a funeral director. With a strong family ethos, our aim is to uphold and maintain our values and traditions for future generations.
